The Best Things in Life are Free
If it’s true that the best things in life are free—and you’ll find no argument here—then what could possibly top a free book?
Oh fine, there might be a few things. But a free book is still nice.
The book that I’m focused on just now—My Heart Sings the Harmony: Twenty Years of Writing About Music—comes out on March 21. It’s non-fiction this time, a “love letter to popular music” that collects more than 100 reviews, interviews and essays spanning genres from rock and roll to jazz to country to progressive rock.
Visiting this blog is a great way to join the race to the finish line, e.g. Publication Day (t-minus 32 days and counting). However, to be the very first to do things like see the cover image, preview the jacket quotes, or read excerpts from the book—and to get free stuff—there’s one more very simple, small, quick thing you need to do: sign up for my newsletter at the link below.
Subscribing to the newsletter (“The Harmony”) will not get you spammed to death; I expect to issue it maybe three or four times a year at most. What it will get you is:
- Exclusive access to giveaways.
- First look at the cover of the new book.
- First look at excerpts from the new book.
- First look at news about upcoming projects.
- Bad puns. There will definitely be bad puns.
The drawing for the first giveaway—a signed copy of the book for three different winners—will be held on March 15, so you’ll need to sign up for the newsletter before then to have a shot at your free copy. You’ll find the sign-up link at lower right of this page.
The finish line is in sight. Hope you’ll join us on the journey.
